Back in the 80s, the BBC had 'Tomorrow's World' while ITV had 'The Real World'. However, in November 1982, The Real World beat the BBC at its own game and became the first TV programme to broadcast in 3D. I remember the excitement at the time, especially since the TV Times gave away a free pair of 3D specs with that week's issue. Of course, needing more than one pair in a household gave all schoolkids license to raid WHSmiths and pocket a few from inside the magazine.
Having just found the episode online, I can't wait to again experience the timeless kitsch of it all
