Jim Flora is one of my favourite artists / illustrators, and has been a major inspiration for me over the years. His often flat-coloured compositions of shapes and figures have a distinctive appearance that are always lively and playful. His style echoes certain qualities reminiscent of artists such as Paul Klee and Jean Dubuffet, and his output is consistent in quality, variety and imagination. Best of all, his joyful and jazzy designs often disguise a dark humour with macabre overtones and a certain craziness. His work remains as fresh and relevant today as it ever was
