Ever since visiting
Le Dernier Portrait at Musée d'Orsay a few years ago, I've been fascinated by Memento Mori photography. Despite being relatively recent history, attitudes and representations of death since the Victorian era have changed so much, and not in a good way. Seen today as morbid and a taboo, death photography embraces the inevitable with a curious sense of fearlessness and honesty
